Summer Access
Summer Access is automatically available to all law students. You do not need to take any action to gain access. Lexis believes your participation in a summer associate, internship or clerkship program is a valuable part of your legal education. For that reason, you may use your Lexis educational ID at any law firm, government agency, court, or other legal position, internship, externship, or clerkship during the summer months. Some employers would prefer you use their IDs for billing purposes, so please verify your employer’s guidelines. For 1Ls and 2Ls: You can use Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, over the summer for non-commercial research. You can turn to these resources to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills, but you cannot use them in situations where you are billing a client (paid legal work). Examples of permissible uses for your academic password include the following:
If you are working for a firm or a for-profit organization you should use the Westlaw account provided by your employer, or you can use the public access Westlaw available from the Hennepin County Law Library or the Minnesota State Law Library.
Litigation: Recording from April 12, 2023 (Covers tools such as Bloomberg Law’s Dockets resources, Brief Analyzer and Litigation Practical Guidance)
Transactional Law: Recording from April 12, 2023 (Covers Transactional Law Practical Guidance, using sample forms/checklists, and reviews Draft Analyzer)
