This annual resource is the first place to go when trying to locate statistical information. It is available online as well as in print in the UST Libraries. It provides tables with statistics in many different areas, and provides the information on which organization provided the data so that you can locate more in-depth statistics. This Web site, available from the University of California at San Diego, acts as a search system to provide access to archival social science statistical data.
This Web site is a subject guide to other Web sites published by individual U.S. government agencies. The actual statstics to whic it links are separate Web sites updated by the specific agencies. it brings together the many statistics provided by these separate agencies.
ICPSR is the world's largest archive of social science data sets; includes data for criminal justice, demography, economics, education, foreign policy, gerontology, history, law, political science, public health, and sociology. Also hosts extensive learning modules on statistical analysis for use in courses. Register for a (free, required) Researcher Passport account using your St. Thomas email address (and independent password) to download data sets.
To create a Researcher Passport account: Click the Log In button at upper right, then select the "Sign in with email" option (NOT the blue "Access through your institution" button), then "Set up a new account."
Email Account Validation: Typically, ICPSR will automatically recognize your institution and validate your account. If you're trying to download data and receive an unexpected alert that you're not from a member institution, even though you are, your account may need to be validated. To request a validation, send an email to icpsr-help@umich.edu.
This site is made available by the ICPSR (Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research). It provides access to census data for the dates covered.

World population statistic information, called POPIN, are collected and maintained by the Population Division of the UN Secretariat and made available through this site.
