The Career Development Center provides individual services to students and alumni on the St. Paul campus such as one on one appointments, career assessments and inventories, mock interviews, seminars and workshops, and recruiting events.

We have partnered with the Libraries to provide resources to assist students in researching companies and industries. Students needing help using library resources to conduct research may contact or meet with a UST Libraries Research Librarian using many of the links (including chat) available on this LibGuide.

For more information about services offered by the Career Development Center and populations served, please visit the Career Development Center web site.

Why Use this Guide?

Finding a job can be hard enough, without having to do research on top of it, you say?

Successful job hunters do research at every step along the way. This research guide pulls together a variety of sources you may want to use if you're choosing a college major, exploring occupations, or looking for a job or internship.

This guide is intended to assist anyone from beginner to experienced worker who is seeking career or job search assistance. The information has been sorted according to topic areas to allow users to find the resources that would be most related to their specific search with as few clicks as possible. Each tab will provide resources to gain further insight into this topic.

Within each topic, we have sorted the links in three categories to provide a user friendly format. Links found in the University Resources field are those resources and services developed or provided by the UST Career Development Center. In the External Resources section a select list of websites is offered that will provide seekers with information related to this topic elsewhere on the internet. In the third box, a list of resources available from the Library can be found for those interested in published materials. It is our goal to provide quality links rather than quantity to save you time in searching the web for the "best" sites.

This guide is not meant to be comprehensive. Additional resources are available through the UST Career Development Center.

We follow a UST student, Tommie, as he prepares for an important interview. He learns the importance of research, practice, mock interviews, and more as he prepares for his big day. St. Thomas students wrote, acted, filmed, and directed this first of hopefully many shorts for the University of St. Thomas Career Development Center.
