We are doing something a little different this year by going back in time and visiting celebrities who used their notoriety to convince us all to read more. Some have aged better than others. As always, if you know the name of the mystery celebrity let me know, and your name will be put into a pile of correct answers to win a prize every day of Library Week. Good luck!
It has been a fantastic week going down memory lane with you all, and I have really enjoyed using this contest as an excuse to spend time looking at these wonderful 'old' posters. We are going out in style and class with our last library advocate. Do you know who this star (wars) is? If you do, please let me know.
This voracious reader was a famous race car driver and entrepreneur. Oh yeah, he also starred in and directed a movie or two back in the day. The movie he starred in around the time this poster was made in 1986 was about a pool hustler and his famous co-star who liked to be shown money.
Tonight's answer: Paul Newman
Tonight's winner: Beth Antoine
Congratulations!
What a happy looking fellow! You would be too if you finally had time to read a mountain of lovely books. I'm sure nothing is going to go wrong, so let's just take the time to enjoy and share in his love of reading.
Tonight's answer: Burgess Meredith from the Twilight Zone episode 'Time Enough at Last'
Tonight's winner: Susan Anderson-Benson
Congratulations!
It might be hard to tell from this picture, but the book our mystery celebrity is promoting is none other than Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. It takes a dangerous mind to create such an iconic work as this, and I believe our mystery celebrity is feeling that electric power. Power and the money, money and the power, minute after minute, hour after hour.
Tonight's answer - Coolio
Tonight's winner - Mary Twite
Congratulations Mary!
Who is this fine young man sporting a very fashionable head of hair by 1996 standards reading an excellent Stephen King novel?
Tonight's randomly chosen winner is Teresa Gonske! Congratulations!
