Library Resources and Services During the COVID-19 Outbreak: Physical Materials

A guide to library services and resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. Created March 13, 2020. Updated June 2, 2021

Physical Materials

Checking out University of St. Thomas Library Physical Materials

You may browse and check out and return most items from our library collections at all locations as normal.  You can also request materials from other libraries, but be aware that this service is slower than it used to be.

Music and Media (CDs, DVDs, VHS)

  • Browsing Music and Media is currently not available. Students, faculty, and staff may reserve items for pick-up.

Returning Checked out Materials

If you would like to return a book, you can do so at the book drop at any of our library locations, or at one of our Circulation Desks.

CLIC Materials

  • CLIC has resumed sharing materials (except for Hamline).
  • Due to less frequent courier service, and staff shortages, you should expect at least an extra week for your loan requests to be filled.

Interlibrary Loan

  • Interlibrary loan is available for all items. Due to fewer lending partners, less frequent courier service, and staff shortages, you should expect an additional 1-2 weeks for your loan requests to be filled.
  • Renewing materials
    • Log into your ILLiad account
    • Go to "Checked Out Items"
    • Click on your item's "Transaction Number"
    • Click on "Renew Request"
  • Note:
    • If the “Renew Request” button is not present, please contact the Interlibrary Loan staff (libillosf@stthomas.edu).
    • You will be given a one-week renewal while library staff contacts the lending library for a renewal. Watch your email for the outcome.
