Welcome to UST Library Week
National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use.
Stop by the UST Libraries during the week of April 10 14 either in person or virtually and help celebrate National Library Week. The 2012 theme is "You belong @ Your Library".

With the image of libraries changing so quickly, what do you think about when you think about libraries?
Many people have romantic visions of endless shelves of priceless books and elegant spaces that stimulate solitary, deep contemplation. This model makes a lot of sense in a world dominated by printed materials.

With the declining use of print collections and the proliferation of digital formats that can be accessed anywhere, many people envisioned libraries dominated by computers, or simply withering away.

Libraries have expanded beyond their tradtional roles by integrating new technologies into reference services, providing internet access, and in many areas becoming de facto community centers. As opposed to being a warehouse for books and computers many libraries have become dynamic public spaces with comfortable and inviting areas with halls and meeting rooms that promotes community interaction.
