Twice Exceptional (2e) Resources for Teachers: Finding Articles

Children who have above average intelligence, but also have a disability are considered "twice exceptional". This guide provides some resources to start with when doing research on this topic.

Off-Campus Access

With very few exceptions, UST Libraries resources are available from off-campus.  You will be asked to enter your UST username/password.  This is the username you use for your UST email, not your Banner ID.

Search Journal Titles

Find journals and newspapers subscribed to by St. Thomas. Enter all or the beginning of the title (e.g., New York Times or Harvard).

GET IT

Click the GET IT button in any database to get the full text of an article.  If UST Libraries doesn't own it, you'll be given an option to request it from another library

Databases to Try

Although it is difficult to locate actual tests in databases, occasionally you might  find sample questions, or even the entire test, in journal articles.  These are index and abstract databases which you can use to identify these articles.  PsycINFO can be searched specifically to identify articles which provide the measurement tools.  See the "finding tests" tab for help locating reviews of tests and sometimes the actual tests.

Basic tutorial for PsycInfo

This video will show you the basic steps for constructing a search, using the "Term Finder", and completing a search in PsycInfo.
