Multicultural Research Guide for Teachers: Statistics

This fact book synthesizes national and public data in a series of one-page fact sheets that provide a snapshot of the educational progress, strengths, and areas of need of Latino students throughout the educational system, as well as selected educational issues.

The National Indian Education Study (NIES) is designed to describe the condition of education for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) students in the United States. The results presented in this report focus primarily on the educational experiences of AI/AN students at grades 4 and 8 based on their responses and the responses of their teachers and school administrators to selected NIES 2015 survey questions.

This report profiles current conditions and recent trends in the education of students by racial and ethnic group. It presents a selection of indicators that illustrate the educational achievement and attainment of White, Black, Hispanic, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander students. This report presents 29 indicators that provide information and examine (1) demographics, (2) patterns of pre-primary, elementary, and secondary school enrollment; (3) student achievement, (4) persistence; (5) student behaviors that can affect their education; (6) participation in post-secondary education; and (7) outcomes of education.

A project of the Schott Foundation, this site provides a state by state comparison of academic proficiency of various ethnic groups. It also evaluates whether states provide an Opportunity to Learn based on these criteria: high quality early-childhood education, highly qualified teachers in K-12, college prep curricula, and equitable educational resources.

The reports cover such topics as demographics for minority students in Minnesota, academic preparation and progress, and dropout and graduation rates among others.

Completed in 2012, this report presents the results of research into factors that contribute to successful educational outcomes for Latino students in Minnesota high schools.

Published in 2006 by the Chicano Latino Affairs Council, this report explores such topics as enrollment, academic achievement, student retention, mobility, and education funding.

This is a rather slick interactive report on Minnesota education, including a number of statistics for various ethnic groups. It is published by MinnCAN (Minnesota Campaign for Achievement Now), an educational reform advocacy nonprofit group.
