MKTG 490: Business to Business Marketing & MKTG 350: Marketing Channels & Distribution Systems: Getting Started

This guide has resources for MKTG 350 and MKTG 490 classes doing industry and company research.

Researching Small Businesses

Small businesses are usually private companies. A private company is a company that's not traded on any stock exchange. Generally, private companies do not have to file documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC.)

Finding information on private companies can be quite challenging. If the company is very small and/or private, it may be necessary to piece the information together from many sources.

Research consultations

Professional reference service is available via phone, e-mail, and in-person at both the St. Paul and Minnepolis campus libraries. While walk-in service is often available, we recommend that you make an appointment for lengthy consultations or tutorials. Contact one of the business librarians for an appointment.

Why Use This Guide?

This guide includes resources for doing research in marketing classes, especially MKTG 350: Marketing Channels & Distribution Systems.
