Sources You'll Need

You will need to find sources in many different areas. These are some types of sources you may need.

  • Company websites: check these for directory information, annual reports, product/service information, product/service pricing, store location
  • Government websites: federal, state, and local government agencies can provide good demographic and statistical data.
  • Association websites: trade associations can have industry statistics, trends, and news that is hard to find elsewhere. Note that their content is not always free.
  • Company and industry overview sources: these can give you third-party views on what's going on in a company or industry.
  • Newspapers and journal articles: use these for current analysis and market share/size information.
  • Customer demographics sources: these can help you identify target markets and learn more about customers.

Research consultations

Professional reference service is available via phone, e-mail, and in-person at both the St. Paul and Minnepolis campus libraries.
